23 Years

It’s important to me to mark events that changed my life. It’s 23 years now since that Monday morning that my Dad died suddenly of a heart attack.

Not a day goes by that I don’t think of him (and Mum) , little memories that will spring to mind of something that happened in my childhood. When I visit this part of Blackford, the back road, I think of the times that him and I walked down the Danny, round the side of the Red Brae, past the Panholes, no farmhouses left there now, along the road to The top of the Slack Dale and down to the railway crossing and back home. I remember I used to ask Dad a lot of questions of the area we walked and he would tell me stories of his growing up.

I don’t think my brother remembered about Dad and if he did I would t k ow cos he still isn’t speaking g to me for some weird and unknown reason.

It makes me sad to think of all the wonderful things that he missed but am grateful for the many things he did enjoy in his 75 years.

I picked a selection of flowers from the garden (in extra) to take through to the cemetery in Blackford . We stopped off at the takeaway in Auchterarder and had some food, sitting outside at one of their tables. S had a ciabatta and I had cream of cauliflower soup, along with a bag of hash browns! Delicious. I popped into the Charity shop to check out their jigsaws and came away with three good ones. A 500 piece of San Francisco for Ben as he wanted to do a smaller one at his house.

We drove along the back road to Braco past Gleneagles and the countryside was stunning. We placed the flowers and then had a walk through the woods. A lot of the Scots Pine have fallen due to storms and one of the paths is blocked.

S was going to the gym so we headed back and I tidied up the pots after the storm.

I was two in this photo and it was taken at a family christening party of my cousin Paul . We went for a walk on the North Inch, Perth.
