Bee Happy
Following a day of chores yesterday involving an afternoon at the Prioress' house chopping hedges, sawing trees, building a fence and repainting the bathroom ceiling, we figured today we were owed an actual day off.
A fabulous morning with RM in Liverpool. Coffee at The Paper Cup, a wonderful coffee shop just up from the ever famous Taz's Newsagents (famous because noone who knows me has ever been able to visit Liverpool without sending me a photo of it). The Paper Cup not only sells great coffee but also has a pay it forward scheme so that you can donate to buy coffee or toast for members of the homeless community.
Then a trip to the Secret Life of Bees exhibition at the World Museum. Bees are my all time favourite (as indicated by the 7 bee tattoos I currently sport... and yes, there is always space for more). The exhibition was wonderful and included soundscapes provided by bee recordings coupled with cello music, an opportunity to sense the vibrations bees use to communicate and a walk way created to feel like the inside of a hive (main). A cello which hosted two colonies of hives was also part of the exhibition (extra 1). It was a really well curated and wonderful sensory experience - we've waited a while to go and it was lovely to do it while we were enjoying some time off and had the head space to just immerse ourselves in it. There were also some beautiful back lit resin blocks with prints of pollen and flowers - and a chance to smell the inside of a hive. All in all a stunning display for all the senses. Oh, and on learning bees have a honey stomach, I now have a full explanation for what happens when I eat ice cream...
Then lunch at Folkie's beloved favourite Lovelocks (extra 2). We haven't been since Folkie and MsMoss's wedding reception and had been avoiding it a bit in case it was upsetting, but as MsMoss managed to go yesterday we figured it was time to be brave too (sorry I can't for the life of me make the link to MsMoss post work without leaving it as a long link:

Of course it turned out to be lovely as it always has been. We had a lovely lunch, and a giggle about being sent out to try to find RockNerd ahead of the wedding, who we hadn't at that time met, with the instruction "he looks like Folkie... but with less hair and a beard". Needless to say, he bypassed our magic RockNerd catching system and managed to find his way without bumping into either of us en route.
This afternoon looks like teenage taxi duties and a trip to the West Kirby Bookshop. What? We need to stock up on holiday reading...
