Quod oculus meus videt

Wyrley and Essington Canal

I had an appointment at New Cross Hospital for a blood test this morning. It is extremely difficult to park at the hospital, not just for visitors, but L tells me for the staff as well. As a result I parked at the shopping area opposite the hospital and walked over for the appointment. This is the local canal next to the multiplex cinema and across from the hospital.

Unusually, the needle was quite painful today. Normally, the phlebotomists are amazing and you hardly feel it. Anyway, I was in and out in a few minutes and was home by lunchtime.

Some apple picking in the garden during the afternoon; it is amazing how many apples are on the trees this year, definitely a bumper crop. I'm surprised they are ripening so early, I always thought that apples matured in September, but our trees have usually been harvested by the end of August.
