Buttermere evening

The crowds had gone, car parks empty, only a few people about. The perfect time for a stroll around Buttermere - it’s only 7 miles from the flat so just the place for a summer’s evening circuit of the lake.

It was such a treat driving down from Edinburgh this morning. Two and a half hours instead of the 10 hours to Kent. No rush to get off early, no piles of stuff to load into the car. Plenty of time for chatting around the table over a leisurely breakfast. None of the battling the lower reaches of the A1(M) or that maelstrom of the M25 gyratory. .
