Art Deco in New Farm
The Coronet Flats (also called Coronet Court) was built in New Farm, a Brisbane riverside suburb, in the 1930s. It is very much in the Art Deco style. It seems that the owner and developer, Max Strickland, aware that apartment living was not popular in Brisbane at the time, wanted to show that it could be done well. Ninety years later it's an impressive and much-admired building.
