Garden steps

Having lived in our home for the last 38 years, we’ve seen many changes both inside and out. When we first moved here the sloping garden seemed to threaten to encroach on the house, and the building of a conservatory required major landscaping.  With no real idea how to go about this, we actually commissioned a landscape designer to map it out for us. Many skip loads of soil and rubble later - the work being done by the builders rather than us - and we had our new garden.

It’s gone through many subtle changes since, but the basic design remains the same, with these curving steps a focal point leading up from the conservatory doors. I must admit I love our garden. It’s G’s pride and joy, and I can only take credit for the pots!

It’s been another quiet day, other than coffee with G’s brother and his wife prior to their visit to G’s mum. We’re all concerned about her recent decline which my SIL thinks is down to vascular dementia. As an ex-social worker specialising in geriatric care, she had much valuable experience, but of course there will need to be a medical assessment.  We’re just hoping she can remain in her current care home for as long as possible.
