Part of the townscape

The giant cruise ships have almost become part of the townscape here in Akureyri during summer. New every day, two or three at a time. 
This is one of today's guests, towering over the old houses next to the preschool. 
The red house on Gránufélagsgata 29 was built in 1917 and the painted tin cladding is the same as many old houses have here in Akureyri, imported from the U.S.A and has been proven very durable in the harsh Icelandic climate.
