Unexpected Bonus?
I did a bit of Head-scratching and remembered how it happened. I did a small shop & paid with a £20; the change found its way into my Pocket, the Tenner didn't.
I freely admit to being Cash-lover rather than Card, for a number of reasons; one of which is "Why do people use cash instead of cards?
Transaction Fees: Many small businesses prefer cash to avoid credit card processing fees, which can eat into their profits. Accepting cash allows them to retain more of their earnings. Privacy Concerns: Cash transactions are anonymous, allowing individuals to make purchases without leaving a digital footprint." Having, for a handful of year, had a "Small Business" I can see some sense there.
"Recent insights reveal that paying with cash can protect local shops from the high costs imposed by card payment systems. Every card swipe chips away at a merchant's profits, with Visa and Mastercard alone taking a staggering $111.2 billion in fees out of a record $187.2 billion in 2024."
Anybody come across the "£5 Concept" from totallylocally.org
