Part 2
Dancing with the Devil - Part 2 - featuring an adult male hummingbird and a honeybee. I have another shot with two bees but didn't like the position of the hummer quite as much so decided to go with this. But now I have a new goal which is to get 2 bees/wasps in the frame with the hummingbird. Something for me to work on next week.
Interestingly, this male hummer hasn't started to molt yet and is still looking quite dapper. A couple of the other males are looking pretty ragged now with feathers missing and pin feathers showing. All part of the cycle.
Had another good session with my therapist today. So glad I finally found someone to work with me as it is very, very helpful.
I think my eye is getting better but I am keeping my appointment tomorrow morning with the optometrist just so he can have a look at it. It isn't red anymore and most of the scratchiness has subsided, so that all seems very positive.
After the eye doc tomorrow, I am going to head straight over to the practice field to spend some time photographing the dogs. I decided to rent a lens to try this weekend - the Nikon 28-400. On the plus side it is super lightweight only about 1.6 pounds. The bad news is that it is f/4-8 with basically anything over 200 mm going to f/8. That will be fine for this weekend when I will be photographing under full sun, but it would not be a lens I would probably use very much because of its low light performance. I already have a 100-400 f/5.6-6.3 lens which is a little faster and also a little heavier so the 28-400 would be redundant, as well as being slower in low light. Still fun to try some new gear. I will have the lens for a week so will be able to put it through its paces.
Jax continues to improve and tomorrow we will start him back on kibble. No hard chews for a few more days though. He has 2 more days of theantibiotic too.
Hubs went on YouTube today and learned how to tape the big toe that he jammed this week. So he is off to karate again tonight with his toe immobilized (hopefully). So now we not only have Dr. Google, but now Dr. YouTube as well!
