There Must Be Magic

Double Bumble Butt

Hee-hee! I said butt!

It was morning. I was on my bike, traveling through the neighborhood, as I so often do. The roads are lined with flowers, and I am glad to see that nobody has been mowing them. The purple thistle blooms are a big attraction for the pollinators these days. Many flowers were covered in bees.

This particular bloom was a big draw for these two bumblebees, who danced and pranced about, often in tandem, like they were performing for the masses. Which was me, I guess. The only one to stop on a lovely summer morning to enjoy the show.

For some reason, the whole thing reminded me of that scene from the 2002 film Chicago, where Velma Kelly (Catherine Zeta-Jones) is recreating the performance she used to do with her sister, who's since deceased. So our soundtrack song is Catherine Zeta-Jones, with I Can't Do It Alone.

A bit of movie trivia: Catherine was pregnant during the filming of Chicago, and for some scenes, as her belly became more prominent, they shot a body double from the back, and then Catherine from the waist up from the front. She performed all of her dance numbers herself, including this one. The director wanted her to appear with her signature long hair, but Catherine bobbed it, as she did not want her hair to fall over her face such that anyone would have reason to doubt that she had done her own dance scenes. Catherine won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in this film. The film also took Best Picture.

Here are links to three other favorite songs from Chicago: Queen Latifah with When You're Good to Mama, Richard Gere with Tapdancing Around the Witness, and all the homicidal ladies with the Cell Block Tango.
