Flowers and Books...

..add in some tea and it makes for a fine day.

My day started with the usual watering of those very thirsty hydrangeas and a few minutes to sit and enjoy the garden..which now has some colour. There is still a long way to go, but my fear that it would be too green and boring has been for naught! (extra)

Today was Tea and Books at my friend Sandy's library, and as it was to be the last one ever, Elaine and I made every effort to get our butts up there. The librarian who has been presenting these afternoon book recommendation sessions is throwing in the towel. She is retiring from a long career as librarian, getting married and moving away!  Whew! That's a lot of major life changes all in one fell swoop!  Good luck to her!

This last Tea and Books session was different; she created a list of her favourites from all those books she has been recommending over the years....no reading of excerpts of course, but instead, she spoke briefly about what made these books her favourites.

I thought that book lovers who read my journal might like to see what those books were..(extra) One can never have too many book recommendations, n'est-ce pas?  I have read a lot of these books, but still came away with ones I would like to try!

More bad news today - it just never stops coming. My friend Donna is in hospital with diverticulitis and not doing well. She is not up for visitors, so, apart from cards and flowers, all we can do is wait until we hear from her husband and hope that the antibiotics will work. I have diverticulosis and have had issues with it, issues which resulted in major abdominal surgery...so my fingers are crossed for her. At our age, the last thing we want is any kind of surgery! Yikes!
