Diary of an Edinburgher

Tromsø

A fabulous sail round the coast, always between islands, so no rough seas, and plenty of rugged, dramatic scenery to look out at. We arrived in Tromso about midday. Sunshine and fluffy white clouds, 21° - perfect. People set off on excursions, or just their own sight-seeing, but many folk just had a wander in town, which was right by the harbour. Our neighbours went up the furnicular and to see the cathedral.

What a great wee town (in the summer months). We resisted a reindeer burger, but had a large soft serve ice cream. We saw the statue of Amundsen, in his Antarctic attire - and I'm SURE I remember seeing his actual outfit in the museum in Bodo when we were here many years ago (pre blip). We also saw the only wooden cathedral in Norway.

We were back on board before most folk on excursions, so we plopped into the jacuzzi and the sauna again. And JR did some washing and drying in the laundry. So it was a most productive day.

Now sailing out on a glassy sea through mountainous islands in the evening sunshine. It's hard to give up and retire to the suite, because I'd walk round the other side of the ship, and it'd be an even more spectacular scene. I can now see, above and behind the next ones, the most jaggedy topped ones yet! Still in sunshine, with big patches of snow. I WILL need to wait to see them... it just goes on and on!

22.45 and I've been out twice since the last sentence.

EXTRAS!  Gorgeousness overload.
