Blue Dasher Dragonfly

A blue dasher dragonfly allowed me to sit quietly by our goldfish pond as he carried on a vigorous aerial defense of his territory. 
I was close by,  with my camera ready, when he decided to rest for a few minutes.
It was a most pleasant afternoon to be lollygagging with a dragonfly who was putting on a show of all his best aerobatic maneuvers.
