Now that’s what I call Cosmos

I nipped over to Shugborough early (before the projected high temperatures) and headed into what used to be the walled vegetable garden. They are doing major works, relocating the car parks, redesigning the entrance, and creating some new areas.

When I visited earlier this year, I was sad about the changes. I don’t want to lose that fabulous long drive through the stunning woodland with its follies, and I was disappointed with the closure of the adventure area and the decline of the veggies. (Mind you, there was one runner bean area which was doing nicely(extra).

What a difference a few months make. The old walled garden is now full of fascinating plants (apple of Peru in the extras), wonderful dahlias, and really different plant combinations.

They are opening a brand new Arcadia garden where the woodland adventure area used to be…..locked gates, no advance peeping…..

Just before I headed for home, I spotted these Cosmos, flourishing, caught in the rays of the sun, and the way they should be. Not many, but reassuring.
