Old friends

Another mixed weather day today. We were meeting a couple this morning who have just returned from a few days on the island of Colonsay - they came to the house for coffee and after lots of chatting we went on to Poppies Garden Centre for lunch. For the first time ever there were no tables free and nothing for some time, so we sat outside, under cover of course, and actually enjoyed it! It rained occasionally just two feet from my elbow, but we stayed dry. Unfortunately we were annoyed by wasps which constantly buzzed around us!

David & Fiona came with me to Nepal in 1994 on a trek to Makalu. We didn't actually climb Makalu, of course (!), but camped across the glacier and were woken during the night by the amazing sound of avalanches on the mountain slopes. The two of them have continued walking and travelling about in their campervan and we had plenty to talk about.

Across the water in the Dunstaffnage Marina reposed the $110 million super yacht La Datcha, owned by the Russian billionaire businessman Oleg Tinkov. I wonder what he's doing in these waters?
