Returning
my parents home.
Drove them this morning back to Helsinki and left Buddha with them for few hours, so we could wonder in the city for a while.
It was a Tove Jansson Day. "Tove Jansson Day is celebrated on August 9th in Finland, honoring the birthday of the renowned author and artist, Tove Jansson, and also recognized as Finnish Art Day. This date is significant due to Tove Jansson's birth in 1914, and her legacy as the creator of the Moomins and her contributions to literature, illustration, and painting.
In the Esplanade, in front of the Moomin shop, there was a queue of about 100 meters. People were queuing to buy the new Moomin mug that was published today. We walked to the near by department store where they had the Mooming / Tove Jansson exhibition, checked that out, and bought the same mug without the queuing. Lots of people collect Mooming mugs, we are not one of them, but it seemed like an appropriate memory of this day.
We're back home. It was along day, but quite good. I even managed to do some school book reading in the car, I'm happy about that.
