Why?

A bit of a funny day. Wanted to get out on the bike so used the excuse of picking up a weekend paper and fuelling up. Not satisfied I decided to head up to Parbold for a coffee but with so many cars out it wasn't a great deal of fun. With the choice of cooking for myself or dining out I  booked a table at one of my favourite spots. Booking in advance on a motorcycle is always best. When walking in with a reservation they are much less inclined to turn you away because you are on a bike. Believe me this still  happens.

So why do we ride? There is a lot of nonsense about freedom, the adrenalin rush from speed etc but for those of us who have rode for many years I think it is so much deeper than that. A car, no matter how you tart it up is little more than transport. Someone once said that driving a car is like watching a movie play out on a screen but riding a motorcycle is being the star of the show. I like this analogy.

The book in this blip is my current  read. We have followed Noraly right from her first videos and in the motorcycling world she is probably right up there with Ted Simon. The book is no 'Jupiter's Travels'which is much more reflective but it is still an excellent read. And no you don't have to be into motorcycles to enjoy it but perhaps it is more meaningful on another level if you are.
