After a morning with my book and coffee it was off down to The New Town to see the two exhibitions at The Ingleby Gallery - first time I've been since it made the move there (in 2018 I've since found out) and I loved the place. A great space/building and the exhibitions were highly impressive as well.
We decided that as we had to pass The Barony Bar on the way up to Elm Row for our lunch appointment it'd just be plain rude not to call in for a pint. Not been there for a good while but may have to remedy that in the future, liked it a lot. As I did our lunch, a cheap as owt three course Italian that offered no frills but for £9.80 I'm not complaining in the slightest.
Back to our side of town for a teatime screening of Weapons at the local multiplex. A slow burn that really does get ramped up to the max, in a good way.
And then two events at Edinburgh International Festival for our evening's entertainment. First up was something which is hard to describe but is without doubt the most fantastic thing I've seen so far - Works And Days at The Lyceum. Think experimental wordless theatre with live music and some of the most amazing technical production type stuff I've seen. Constantly stuff going on all over the stage and a real feeling of "What the f**k are they going to do next?". Kind of stunning really. Check a review here that attempts to do it justice.
And then up the castle hill to The Hub to see Kathryn Joseph with Lomond Campbell. A very lovely venue indeed and a very fine gig. I'm there again next Saturday for summat too and I'll be making sure I arrive in plenty of time to bag one of the sofas!
