WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Back Blip (Saturday)

The journey to Staithes was longer than we thought.
We stopped on the way at a very pink cafe, they had an array of yummy looking cakes but nothing vegan
:-(
We finally arrived at Staithes but what a palaver!
It was the RNLI weekend and the road down to the harbour was closed off. We had to walk down the hill then back up and down again to carry all our stuff - wheelie cases, dog bed, bags of food etc to the cottage.
However once there we got settled and had a lovely time at the harbour. There were Lifeboat displays, fancy dress competition for the kids and a brass band.
Bella got a big fright when a really loud bang went off in the harbour she managed to slip out of her harness and ran into the Ladies loo and hid in a cubicle. I struggled put her harness back on as she was not for moving. Poor Bella, it really unsettled her for the rest of the day.
We had a lovely dinner at a pub then sat on a bench and there was a brass band, they were brilliant and had a singer too who did some Frank Sinatra numbers. A lovely lady sat with us and we chatted for ages. Children were playing on the beach making big sand balls to throw in the sea and dogs were doing zoomies, all lovely to watch.
When we got back to the cottage Bella didn’t eat her dinner. We had to stay up to keep her calm as there were fireworks at 10 pm. Her bed was next to my side of our bed and she crawled under till her head was far enough under to hide.
So that was the ups and downs of our first day. :-)
