Sarris

Sarris Barneveld lives in an old farm overlooking the river IJssel. Despite his age he goes out for a walk to the river everyday. A couple of times a week he even walks to Hattem, a distance of about 4 kilometers, to visit his sister in law who does his laundry. Nowadays it takes him about an hour to get there. Because of problems with his back it's difficult for him to go too far without his walker.
Sarris still lives in the same house he was born in, 83 years ago. He was the oldest of the family. The third kid to be born in the family but the first one that stayed alive. After him 5 brothers and sisters were born. Sarris is not a real common name, but in his family there were three: Him, his dad and his grandfather.
All his life he lived at this place and worked at the farm. At first with his family and after his father died 28 years ago, he stayed here alone. He didn't get married, never got to it but also never made an effort to find a wife.
