Leftovers
There are not many leftovers from my previous garden. Most of my older blooming plants have been removed in the process of renovating the garden and I miss them. But this one has fought hard back there to earn its keep, and I intend to get some more to keep it company! There are many holes yet to fill, but for now I am happy to see that this one and pretty much all of the phlox have survived and are out there brightening up the back yard. (extra)
I am often up in the night prowling around, staring out the window, trying to stay upright while waiting for my anti-acid-reflux chewables to do their job and it is interesting to discover what goes on out there in the dead of night.
Last night it was coyotes....We see them all the time but this was like a little play being acted out - a familiar one for people who have partners that are never ready to go out on time? One coyote lying, for quite some time on my neighbour's from lawn... which is weird.... What's with that? But then I see why.
She (?) has been waiting...patiently...for something or someone, and it seems it is someone...because upon spotting another coyote trotting down the road toward her, she immediately jumps up and trots off up the street, with the late arrival sheepishly in tow, trotting along behind, but keeping a safe distant from, I assume, the wrath of a miffed spouse? And so, began the overnight hunt, a little late but better than never.
And..there is more...There was full moon and it was lighting up the entire garden out back. All those white blooms that Shawn loves? Aha! In the light of the moon, they come to life! They glow! Who knew? What a wonderful sight. Magical. I must let him know that he made some good choices and that there is an unexpected bonus to having all those white hydrangeas! I will remember that each and every time I am out there watering them in a heat wave, and perhaps tomorrow night, I will get up and go sit out there to enjoy a moonlit garden.
