Colchicum sp
Hot on the heels of yesterday's little colchicum, today we have a larger one planted in a raised bed in the garden. It's one I raised from seed, my own seed, probably from the Norwich garden but any label it may have had is long lost. I don't like the 'graveyard' look of lots of labels, preferring to let things run a little wild and hopefully natural looking. So it's Colchicum sp (sp for species) my best guess is Colchicum parnassicum which often flowers much earlier than the other bigger species and at first look, it closely resembles this.
A fairly full day off, albeit not doing anything in a hurry due to the heat. Another lovely walk with C and the Megs first thing this morning. Dog related laundry - hot weather great for drying the dog beds so I've freshened them all up. A fair bit of bulb sorting, the autumn crocuses are next on the list and after tea a trip out to gather blackberries at the ball field. No ball today, too hot, Meg had a mooch around. Home for a Supermarket delivery then as it got dark I spent an hour and a bit finishing the glazing on three pieces. Now home and winding down but will juice the blackberries - now cooking - before bed. A productive day.
