Family ...

Two of my cousins came to visit today. The chaps arrived together, one having driven down from Cambridgeshire to collect the other one from Hertfordshire, and then driven on to visit Smithers and me here in Woodford for lunch.

The conversation flowed from the minute they arrived, with much reminiscing and family history talk. I returned some family history files that I’d borrowed, and attempted to solve a mystery for my younger cousin about a problem he’d encountered on his wife’s family tree. I wasn’t able to shed much light on it I’m afraid, but I tried.

I’d been up since before 6.00 am preparing for their visit.  The raspberry and cinnamon torte (yes, again!!!) was made and came out of the oven by 7.15 am. Not bad. But I’m very weary now, and bed beckons.

My photo shows the lone pink hollyhock in our garden, starting to show the seeds that it’s produced (more family!). I am going to harvest as many as possible in the vain hope that one day I will have a garden full of pink hollyhocks rather than the insipid white ones that proliferate at the moment.
