Ghosts
When I was in “The Waiting Room” with Lancaster Footlights earlier this year, Kris (writer and director) mentioned that one of her inspirations was the work of Danny Robins. “2:22 A Ghost Story” is one of his plays and, though it wouldn’t normally be my cup of tea, it has been very well reviewed and I was intrigued to see if there were any similarities to TWR.
So I got us tickets to see the touring production, which has been at Manchester Opera House this week. Taking advantage of heading in a southerly direction, we called in to see mum in the home on our way. It was very warm today but, fortunately, the theatre was air conditioned, which made for a pleasanter evening.
The play was most enjoyable and well performed by the four actors, who rarely left the stage. That was one similarity to TWR but, as to there being any others, I can’t comment as, at the end of the play, there was a big sign projected on the wall saying “Ssshhhh - please don’t tell”.
In much the same way that the audiences for “The Waiting Room” were asked not to talk about it.
Ooops! I might have said too much…
