Hamlet
Today I worked at home all morning, completing the tidying up I'd needed to do after messing up when programming yesterday. I arrived in time to catch up with И, PhD student Y and our intern. Then I went to PhD student B's first year review meeting. He gave an very good presentation, after which there was a long and informative discussion between him and one of my colleagues.
Back in the office, I analysed the results of an experiment, and set four more going that will run overnight. I then integrated version 2 of our intern's code into HiGHS, did some experiments and sent her the results. Normally she'd do this herself, but she'd got a lot to do before the deadline for submitting her dissertation.
In the evening A and I saw Hamlet by New York Circus Project. It was an excellent combination of acrobatics, circus and dance, with relatively little dialogue. The death of Ophelia was delivered particularly well (see extra, in which the tank had about 10cm of water in it), as was the comic relief of (female) Rosencrantz and Guildenstern as acrobats. Not all the cast excelled at both acrobatics and acting, and a couple of passages were not as slick as they might have been, but it was a great experience. Afterwards, we ate at a nearby noodle bar, and after getting home I gave Django a second evening walk.
