A rose by any other name...
I've always known this as Rose of Sharon although but after seeing lots of people flowers with that name I thought I was wrong. But a check on the RHS site reveals that this Hypericum calcycinium has many names, rose of Sharon being one of them. Also known as St John's wort and Aaron's beard.
Whatever, it's a cheerful flower and still blooming along side the Gill.
A hot day, apparently the hottest day of the year. It managed to reach 25 degrees here which is quite hot . We went for a walk in the Gill woods, which was ice and shady and cooler than in the sun.
Our house remains cool ( thick stone walls) and at 11 pm it was surprisingly warm when I let Robnie out of the garden. He got hot running about and was then very restless when it was time to sleep. I spent time looking for Fletchs c
'Cool blanket' but couldnt find it so I ended up putting a wet towel on him which cooled him. Luckily alongside his bed is cool vinyl flooring and he was happy to sleep there.
It will be less warm tomorrow. It never lasts here.
