Pedn Vounder
Took a walk around Porthcurno as Mrs RB wasn’t with us when we passed by on the South West Coast path last year. Porthcurno might be busy but it is a magical spot and a near perfect beach/coast combination. Over the hill is Pedn Vounder, another beach that is dangerous to access.
I can’t break a rule (teacher?) so we didn’t go down but plenty of people had. You can see the temptation as it looks amazing but I also wouldn’t want to be calling on the emergency services, having been forewarned.
A recent bereavement has made me very risk averse. I’m hoping this is temporary as I am definitely from the life is for living school of thought.
Anyway, after this we ambled up Carn Brea, Britain’s most westerly hill. Very nice it was too with a view to the Scilly Isles, Wolf Rock and St Michael’s Mount.
It may be high summer but out of the main spots, it’s easy to find quiet. Also, it’s nice to see it busy and people enjoying themselves. I fully recognise that I’m one of the incoming tourists!
