The cyclists

Last night we had a lovely meal that Meriel cooked and the four cyclists were very pleased to enjoy a home cooked meal and a comfortable bed for the night. This morning they had breakfast and barista coffees (made on my new machine), Gavin popped down to the supermarket to buy fresh bread rolls and cold meats, cheeses etc and then made them a packed lunch before we said our goodbyes and they set off. Their journey is 4000km long through 17 countries and is estimated to take around 60 days. They are raising funds for Alzheimers Research UK and it's an extremely challenging journey which I hope the charity appreciates. Here is a photo of the four lads before they set off this morning, to cycle over the tortuous Fluela Pass before tackling the even more challenging Stelvio Pass in Italy the next day. They have set up a Just Giving page which we will donate to.

It was extremely hot today, 30C and airless. We were going to do a high level walk but Meriel wasn't feeling well and my back/hips/legs were quite painful today. Gavin and I did a shorter walk, it was too hot to go anywhere far and when we got back I used the Theragun on my upper glutes and took another anti inflammatory - which I have been reluctant to use - and I felt much better after that.

So we have had a very lazy day, even Xena was reluctant to walk anywhere. Tomorrow morning we are driving to Munich for the weekend, it's just over 3 hours but we will take a slow drive and stop off at Lake Constance (Bodensee) on the way. It is a public holiday in Munich on Friday so it is a good weekend to visit Tommy.
