Diary of an Edinburgher

Brønnøysund - the Middle of Norway!

We crossed back out of the Arctic Circle this morning. We rushed out to get the photo of the sign on the wee island. It's been a bit mizzly today, but it cleared up for our only stop, in Brønnøysund, which is a wee nondescript town, but its claim to fame is that it's the MIDDLE of Norway!

We had a walk round the town, and got quite excited at a 'Sushi bar' sign but it was closed. But there were supermarkets open, and we got some bananas and blueberries - there is a decided lack of fresh fruit on offer on board. The obligatory huge soft ice cream was had, and I got some Strepsils ('Repsils' here) as I have developed a sore throat. I blame the air con...

Just having a slight panic about our homeward travel arrangements, but it's all sorted now (thanks to Elizabeth stepping in yet again). Sad to say, we won't be back home in time to see Vicki before she leaves very early on the morning of our afternoon arrival. She has been absolutely terrific. She's kept us informed of Archie's activities, has taken him on lots of walks (Arthur's Seat and Portobello Beach) and has been able to get about and see things and attend shows, even the Tattoo.

An early morning stop in Trondheim tomorrow, but I don't think we'll bother - it's quite a walk into town, and I'm expecting inclement weather. Besides, 6.30 is just too early.

Enjoyed 'Love It Or List It - NZ' on tv today.

Archie sent us some photos of his day out with Amanda and John. Clever boy.
