Another Scorcher!
WEDNESDAY
It was a warm and still night and at 1:00 am I went out in the garden to look for the Perseid meteor shower. I was rewarded immediately with two meteors streaking across the sky. I'll be looking again tonight.
Yesterday, the neighbour’s gardener trimmed his side and the top of the tall hedge at the back of our garden. So this morning, I decided to finish the job and cut our side.
The hedge is a useful screen and, although it stands about 3.5 metres tall from our side, it’s on the north side of our property, so it doesn't block any sunlight.
I started around 10:00 and the job took about 90 minutes. However, I've only managed to clear away about half of the cuttings so far as, by late morning, I was working in direct sunlight, and the heat made sweeping up rather uncomfortable .
This afternoon, I made a trip to Denbigh and dropped off two large boxes at the St Kentigern Hospice Charity Shop.
The lavender is now well past its best, but it's still attracting butterflies and bees.
