Blip meet
Wednesday this morning so the day started with church. I was taking the service so took the chance to try out the new head mic I bought at the weekend and all seemed good. That being the case we're going to buy another to go with the other transmitter.
When I got home Colin and I decided to head off to Newhailes for a short walk and some lunch we had to be back in time to pick up Isobel at 4.15 after her first day in P5. I had an extremely tasty Caesar salad - which I may have had yesterday too come to think of it. I'll be becoming quite a connoisseur! I also bought some lovely lumpy bumpy Anya potatoes from the shop, they'd been grown on one of the Newhailes allotments. I took my extra at the wee second hand bookshop there. I think whoever did the display had a sense of humour putting these two next to each other.
I took Colin home after that and headed off myself via an ice cream shop to pick up a couple of Ben & Jerry's tubs. I'd arranged to go and see blipper Nadine, Mumof4Wildlings, who yesterday had major spinal surgery, provided she was feeling up to it. As you can see from the blip she's looking great, if strength of will is all that is needed to have her 100% back to health then she'll be there in no time. The ice cream went down well too, on such a hot day. As it was she got herself into her wheelchair as I was leaving and came out into the sunshine with me!
We hadn't met before but one of the joys of blip is the friendships you build without ever meeting face to face, which mean that when/if you do meet, you feel like old friends! Ridiculously, as she lives in Dumfries, we discovered that she had worked with one of my former pupils! Special Ed is a very small world.
I left Nadine, after over an hour's visit, sitting out in the sunshine in her wheelchair. She can only sit for 20 minutes at a time, so she was heading back upstairs soon. It was so good to finally meet up, thank you Blip.
From the hospital I went to pick up, first Eilidh, who is not back at school yet, then Isobel, who Colin had earlier taken to her ballet class. She sat her grade 3 ballet exam earlier in the summer and came out today with her certificate, delighted to have been awarded a distinction. A happy and talented girl.
