Hours of Entertainment

Next-door are getting connected to the sewer! Their house was originally a very basic one story farm house; numerous bits and pieces have been added over the years, but the previous owners were still using a septic tank. 

The crew operated the diggers like an extra limb - it was something to behold. But they couldn't find the pipe they were trying to connect with ('the map was wrong') so it was necessary to dig up the entire yard until they did. Trenches were dug and refilled. They are still working on it, and it's 6pm, although the pipe is laid and the yard is now flat as a tennis court and probably has space for two (clay courts, obviously).

I was pleased that they kept the black cherry tree that the birds love, but the old vegetable patch/rose garden is gone. The catbirds lived in it, so did the rabbits, and probably numerous other creatures. I wonder what happened to them all?
