For posting

There are a few of these little red mail boxes around the village where residents can post items without leaving the village. Someone from the office collects the mail and takes them to the post office. This is certainly good for those who are no longer driving.

Why don’t the residents just take the mail to the office? I assume it is  because we live on 60 acres.
