What do you do when the lovely rose you want to take a photo of is growing out of a messy, unphotogenic, scrappy old trellis with rusted chicken wire all over it?

Sounds like the set up to one of those jokes that make you groan- which I admit I am a fan of. But it's not. This rose, and the others around it, are growing from a frame that just looks terrible.
I think the idea was that it would be so covered in greenery, that you wouldn't notice. If so, then maybe in a couple of years it will look a lot better.

Or more likely, the volunteers at the community garden in Aldcliffe, of which this is a part, simply aren't all that concerned with what makes a good  photograph. How dare they neglect my needs so!
Good job they do such an awesome job of keeping the little Aldcliffe Triangle garden so full of interest and life, eh?

And it really is a nice little spot. A little peaceful oasis by the canal, where anybody can come and sit for a while and enjoy the herbs, wild strawberries, and yes, roses. They really do a great job here.

Anyway, I actually think it makes a good photo. Not a great photo, perhaps, but a good one. A rose in profile against the beautiful blue of the summer sky. Maybe they know more about photography than I give them credit for?

Lovely day today. The weather finally pleased me. Despite being a quite blistering 22 degrees Celsius, there was occasional shade from passing clouds and a nice, constant breeze. I enjoyed my photowalk today and didn't once moan to myself about the weather! Who am I, and what have I done with Scott?

Drone hoverflies in extras. And a six pointed star flower!

Thank Thor for a nice Thursday!
