LBB
LBB stands for leg before bar as opposed to LBW, leg before wicket. This is the bar in the Chobham Cricket Club pavilion. Today was the first time in the 33 years I have lived in Chobham that I have been inside the pavilion and was also the first time I'd been on the hallowed turf of the cricket ground. The reason was that I've signed up for the Club's Walking Cricket team. It was their weekly practice session today and I did well enough to pass the audition. It was only an hour but I batted for 4 overs and bowled two overs. Solid plastic bats and balls are used and players must not break into a jog let alone actually run. I thought it would be quite gentle exercise because of this but I've developed quite painful aches in muscles that clearly have been underused. I've not played cricket, other than the odd scratch game jn the past, but I enjoyed playing and hope the aches will have subsided by next Thursday when the next session is due to take place..
Oh, and a batter can't be out LBW in Walking Cricket unless they deliberately block the ball from hitting the wicket with their leg(s).
