Rochdale

Alison and I have been trying to have an adventure for months. Today was the day. We caught the train to Rochdale then the tram to the town hall total cost £0. We both have paid £10 for the year for free train travel in Greater Manchester. It was a grey day and it did try to rain.
The town hall has been renovated and each room was stunning, it took 5 years. The walls all had benn stencilled (not wallpaper) and the ceilings panelled. A volunteer was really knowledgeable and could tell us lots about the grand hall and the history of the place. I got Alison to try on the robes in the mayor's parlour.
We had lunch in the cafe, we should have booked but they did find us a table after we had a coffee. We actually spent almost 3 hours in the building and I'm sure we will go back sometime.
The statue infront of the town hall in the extra is Gracie Fields.
