Thursday: Taxi!

I was in town today to meet my old friend, Mark. Coincidentally, yesterday it was ten years to the day since I last saw him.  We’ve kept in touch but as he also spent a lot of time abroad it’s been hard to co-ordinate get-togethers.

It was great to catch up.  We met at Waterloo and went for a long walk along South Bank and Victoria Embankment before heading into Chinatown for lunch (we worked together in Beijing, so that seemed apt).  I don’t think we stopped talking the whole time.

This was the only photo I took as I didn’t want to break the conversation by stopping for photos.  But it’s still interesting, I think, as I’ve never seen this statue before.  It’s called ‘Taxi’ and apparently he’s been trying to hail a taxi since 2014. He might have more success if he wasn’t in a cycle lane.
