My sea holly has bloomed this year for the first time in the 4 or 5 years I’ve had it. Delighted.
I had a nice ordinary day til something really bad happened late afternoon. I fell victim to an online scam. Looking back at it, which I have been most of the night, I can see there were at least 10 obvious hallmarks of a scam. And when I was at work (in a finance team) and at home too, I’ve always been very confident of spotting them, Until yesterday. Trying to figure out how it happened, I think it was an unholy alliance of tiredness (I hadn’t slept the night before either), money (it purported to be from the government telling me to claim winter fuel allowance) and anger against the government for being such an absolute let down in so many ways, so they might very easily treat pensioners in this offhand way. .
Anyhow, after many hours on the phone, the fraud department at my bank successfully decoupled my current and credit card accounts from the Google Pay account of the Philippine gangsters. So no harm done except to my self esteem and self respect. I feel like a pathetic and stupid old woman, and I didn’t feel that 24hours ago:-(
