Liverpool and heading onward.
Thank you for your concerns for me about my car and having to repeat the journey to collect it. I’ve set off on another adventure so they’re repairing it while I’m away, and they’ve said they’ll bring it home for me when I’m back.
Yes. Off to Liverpool today. I went for my train at Lichfield Trent Valley and it was crawling with police. A huge van, several cars and a full motorcycle guard of honour. In their leathers they looked as though they were melting.
Of course, they couldn’t say why, but word spread that they were escorting someone to the National Memorial Arboretum.
It couldn’t be the King or Queen as they were already there so the most likely was The Prime Minister. I didn’t see him as I was getting on as he got off.
The train was packed and late but it got me to Crewe just in time for the Liverpool train.
I checked into my hotel, just by the station and had a wonderful afternoon.
First, the Walker Art Gallery, then a stroll, with plenty of pauses, and I decided to head for the Roman Catholic Cathedral.
Had I realised it was at the top of a steep hill, I might have been more circumspect. It was searingly hot, but I kept on going.
I asked passers by who didn’t know, but eventually, a lovely Japanese family reassured me that I was nearly there.
My goodness, it was worth the walk.
