D’Oyley Carte Island

We drove to London this morning to stay with an old friend who lives in Ashford, Middlesex.

In the afternoon we had a stroll along the Thames Path near Shepperton lock then took the ferry to the opposite bank and crossed the bridge to Doyley Carte Island.

Once owned by the famous Savoy Theatre impresario’s family, their house still stands there, now owned by someone else, and there is also a cafe where we sat and chatted by the waters edge.

There were plenty of others messing about on  and by the river.
