Amboise

We had a very good drive down to the Loire Valley today, mostly on the autoroutes. One pays to use them but my goodness, compared to our UK motorways, they are a dream. We skirted round Paris and in the hazy far distance could make out Sacre Coeur and also the 'real' Eiffel Tower!

We arrived in Amboise, on the River Loire, mid-afternoon and found our hotel, right in the middle of the town but with a beautiful garden at the back, where we had dinner tonight. The car was showing 34° when we arrived and so we went for a  refreshing dip in the pool. Tomorrow we'll explore the town and visit the Château. This evening we had a quick stroll round the back streets where there are some lovely old houses.
