The Meditative Power of Watching Birds

Having cancelled our daily physical newspaper (a tough decision for an ex journalist) I have reluctantly gone online.

But it’s not the same. I miss it at breakfast time. Nothing to read while I eat.  So, as its summer I have taken to watching the small birds in our lotus pond.

They flit around, wondering if they dare land on a lotus leaf. A robin, brave enough, leads the way, and others gingerly follow.

There is something profoundly meditative about observing these tiny creatures as they navigate their world.
The way they cautiously approach the lotus flower, the delicate balance they maintain while washing themselves, and the sheer joy they seem to experience in these simple acts.

It’s a reminder of the beauty and simplicity of nature, and how taking a moment to appreciate it can bring a sense of peace and contentment.
