Birthday Girl
Its Lilys birthday today so I thought she should be my blip. Shes 14 years old. I got her when she was 6 months old. Shes a funny little cat - very independent, not keen on strangers, not keen on Tino, fussy with her food, loves me ... and loves tummy tickles and head rubs... and rubbing up against cardboard boxes..
Becky, Mike and Astrid have been on holiday in Tenerife and they flew home yesterday arriving at Newcastle airport in the early hours of the morning. Instead of driving straight home they came here to sleep for a few hours. They arrived around 2.45am. ( of course they knew I would still be up ) We had a quick catch up before they all headed for bed.
This morning Mike went out to get some milk and Scotch pancakes for Astrid and McDonalds breakfasts for himself and Becky. Astrid played with some toys and then all too soon it was time for them to go. They left around noon. Lovely to see them even for a short while. It won't be too long before they are back here as Becky is doing the Great North Run on 7th September.
At 12.30pm I settled down to listen to the match on the radio. First game of the new Premiership season. Newcastle were playing away against Aston Villa. Newcastle played very well in the first half and had a few chances but didn't score any goals. Aston Villa played better in the second half but they did go down to 10 men after having a player sent off. However Newcastle couldn't take advantage of that and the final score was 0 - 0. Still its one point in the bag... and hopefully they will do better if/when they buy a new striker. Isak who is our striker at the moment is actually " on strike " and refusing to play - or not being allowed to play because he won't train with the team .... or something. There are so many rumours going around ( every day someone comes up with a new story ) its hard to know what to think. Apart from the fact that he does seem to want to leave Newcastle. I hope he goes soon and we buy someone else... or he decides he wants to stay and gets back into the team ( if thats possible after all that's gone on.) Either way the situation needs sorting soon.
After the match I just sorted out the bedding and put a load of washing on and watched TV. Had a lazy day really and enjoyed not having to go out for shopping or to an appointment.
