George's Island
A beautiful day to get away and forget about the wildfires, the drought, the woods and fire ban for a few hours. Seven of us left on the 10 am ferry to travel to George's Island. It is a 10 minute ferry ride from downtown Halifax, and the ferry circles around the island before docking.
We spent some time walking around the island, looking at the views of Halifax Harbor and reading the information panels. We also went on a guided tour of the tunnels that were used for defending the harbor in the 17 and 1800's.
We found a picnic table where we could sit and rest and have our lunch. With a small group it is easier to talk and get to know one another. The second extra is the view from our picnic table.
There were 3 superyachts in the harbor today. The Queen D left while we were on George's Island. I tried to find the name of the owner but it is not publicly available. The other yacht in the extras was docked along the waterfront.
