Apples from our old tree..

And they are very tasty.
Some of my standard roses are looking stressed, with scorched leaves and no new growth after I’ve been deadheading.
The shrub roses seem to survive quite well.
Our son remarked on our back “lawn” the other day when he came to pick up two of the grandchildren.
“It’s so dry and arid, ours is permanently damp”
I won’t water it. And am generally using what is left in the water butt for the plants, and intermittently use the hose.
It 24C at the minute, and feels hotter.
We went to our Birmingham Vineyard. Church this morning.
Later I am going to clean off two old patio chairs to put by the little table by the patio window.
Then Stephen will get out the big heavy duty folding table to go next to them.
We are getting ready to have the two youngest grandchildren in the morning. And painting outdoors might take place!
Tuesday morning we are going to look after all 4 of them once more. Their mum has an appointment to keep.
It will be a busy week! Stephen’s brother and his wife are coming to see us from Grassington, North Yorkshire, on Wednesday.
I’ll just put a quote here to finish with:

“What's going on? Is it still summer, or has autumn started already? And does it matter anyway?
There is no formal definition of "early autumn" but experts say signs of the season, like leaves falling already, or apples being ready to pick, are actually nature becoming stressed by the long hot and dry summer.
And a potentially historic one at that - the Met Office says this summer is on track to be one of the warmest since records began in 1884.”
Meanwhile today, once again has been a clear blue sky and constant sunshine from almost 6:00am, when I was awake.
