RIP Sammy

Narrow League Cup defeat for Saints to Motherwell today. We should have won it in the last minute, but captain Jason Holt somehow hit his twelve yard shot wide of the post rather than into the gaping goal…..

On a more serious note, there was a minute’s applause for former player Sammy Johnston who sadly died earlier this week.

I remember Sammy as a skilful player in the Saints team that went from the second division to the Premier league in the period between 1986 - 1990. Sadly gone far too soon
