Heather

Today I finally got up into the Pentlands to get the full experience of the heather being in flower. However much I regret the environmental disaster of our moorlands, it's still impressive when the density of such tiny flowers changes the colour of the hills. It was hot, and although I was walking more slowly, Django still lagged behind. On top of Carnethy (pictured) I had a call from our visitors to say that they'd arrived back - two hours earlier than I'd expected. Not only had I forgotten to hide a key for them to get back in, but I'd also forgotten that daughter L might still be in the house. They were happy to wait, and I found them in their camping chairs, sitting in the shade by the front door. The three of us had lunch together, finishing some of the "supplies" that they'd brought back from their 10-day mini-camper trip to the Highlands. L returned from the Penicuik cafe where she'd spent the morning, and after our visitors left for dinner in Edinburgh with a colleague, we had a long chat about her upcoming flat purchase and other things.
