Firsts of the year (for me)

It was warm and sunny from the beginning today so I was hopeful of seeing some dragonflies and damselflies at Loch Ardinning. This Wildlife Trust Reserve is the only place I know in our area where you have a good chance of spotting them. On our walk out there were none but I did take my first painted lady butterfly of the year which is in the extra. Luckily after a hot walk the path back along the water to the road had a couple of big dragonflies, I’m not sure what the one in my main is, google lens was not much use. There were loads of lovely blue damsels too but they did not stop still for me. We had a lovely walk in the sunshine then headed back to the garden for the rest of the day.
