Old Guard
This magnificent tree was guarding the entrance gates in to Acorn Bank, the NT property the far side of Penrith. We had intended going to Dalemain but found out it was closed on Saturdays.
I’ve heard people onsite talk about Acorn Bank but I’ve never been so we thought we’d give it a bash. Obviously there is a cafe but there’s also a second hand bookshop, a walled garden and a mill with a waterwheel where they still grind flour. Lots of woodland paths as well.
We spent a nice couple of hours there before returning to the caravan. In the evening I took Sal to visit Shap Abbey where coincidently there are two Turf Zones! :-)
