Church in the Castle

Drove to church this morning, way too hot to walk, and didn't even brave walking to the Adega. Brambleblossom is right - our lives are dominated, at the moment, by trying to stay cool.

Anyway, a quick Blip with a quick phone photo, as we're off to Sem Fim, and don't want to turn on the computer when we get back.

Gratefuls:
- an excellent homily from Padre Abraão; think maybe he's being more outspoken now that he knows he's leaving; I went into the vestry afterwards to tell him I'd appreciated it, especially because I imagine others will criticise
- the generosity of Mourenenses: the funeral for the family (couple in their 50s, twin lads of 20, and the Polish girlfriend of one of them) who were killed in a terrible accident, was on Monday; an account was opened to help the two remaining kids - 13, 500+ euros was paid in on the same day - bear in mind that the population is only about 2,000 and most are quite poor
- looks like temperatures are beginning to decrease from tomorrow, hopefully that's it for the 40s this summer
